Digiverse will use blockchain-based smart contracts to maintain a ledger of ownership of plots of land in the digiverse. Each LAND has unique coordinates, an owner, and a reference to the content description file, which encodes what the landowner wants to serve there.

Digiverse will connect to the public blockchain network to fetch updates to the state of the LAND smart contract.

DIGI land is bought by burning DIGI cryptocurrency, a fungible multichain token with a fixed supply. This token serves as a proxy for the cost of claiming a new plot of LAND. The LAND contract uses a burn function to destroy DIGI and create a new entry in the LAND registry. New plots need to be adjacent to a non-empty plot.
